Fall Leaf Tour 2005

Oct 23, 2005

After the rain we had the week leading up to this, our last CPTC run of the year, who would have thought we would get a day as nice as we had. I had called the day before - during the day long rain - to let the Upper Dauphin Boys know I would be participating.  I asked if the run was still on and questioned if there would be any leaves remaining.  "The boys were scrubbing out the kettle" for the bean soup, and it was guaranteed there would be some green and brown leaves left.  And there were. Most drivers had the top down for the start, but most were also putting it up by our stop in the park. I was a little apprehensive before the run as it was the maiden voyage  for my "new" Spit. As the tour progressed, the Spit seemed to shake off it's rough edges from sitting for months, and the noises in the rear during the first few miles grew less frequent.  I guess it just needed to get out and run, make some turns and blow out the cobwebs. I was appreciative that we made several stops, just in case things were getting too hot, but all went well for the 24 TR's that were able to enjoy the run.  Several new members participated as well as charter members Dick and Diane James that are returning from hurricane swept Florida. As usual, the kettle cooked bean soup was a hit as well as the homemade beverages and plentiful buffet table of food in the picnic glade. Unless you need a candelabra, who could ask for more?
